What is India? Who is India? Since when is it around? What is it's story? The story of India begins about 80,000 years ago when the first human beings from Africa settled in the Indian peninsula. However these people were destroyed by the Toba eruption around 5000 years later. The survivors of this calamity in the surrounding regions of the peninsula re-settled in India in another thousand or so years. These people, the Proto-Australoids, are responsible for the first civilization of India.
